A studio parent recently asked me if the colors in the BDA logo represent something in particular. I told her that they actually do have a meaning to me personally. Back when I originally started thinking about colors for my logo, I knew I wanted three colors that worked well together. I also wanted a variety of colors that were not all feminine (since we want boys to feel welcome at BDA). I came up with green, red, and purple.
Green represents a new beginning or “being new or inexperienced” at something. It can also represent a fresh start – like the green you see popping up in spring. All dancers have to start at the beginning and work their way up and the studio was a new beginning for me personally.
Red represents sacrifice (i.e. blood, sweat, and tears). Dancers have to make sacrifices if they want to reach the next level. The studio was a huge sacrifice of time and resources…but well worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears.
Purple represents royalty and deity (and also happens to be my favorite color). I know BDA would not exist were it not for God. It was all perfectly orchestrated, outside of my control, at just the right place and just the right time. It is incredible how everything fell into place and continues to do so. A year later, I am still in awe.
