Teen Ballet/Lyrical: Teen Ballet/Lyrical is ideal for beginner or recreational students (11+ years old) who want to learn proper dance technique. Ballet helps students develop an awareness of body placement, coordination, poise, balance, flexibility, agility, and strength. Students who enjoy taking other styles of dance (such as jazz, tap, or hip hop) will benefit from taking ballet. This class also incorporates lyrical dance training. Lyrical dance combines ballet, jazz, and modern techniques. It is an emotion based style of movement with choreography that focuses on the lyrics of a song. *Beginner/recreational ballet students ages 11+ can take Teen Ballet/Lyrical at teacher's discretion.
Jazz 2, 3 & 4 (by placement): There are multiple styles of jazz, but most know it as the style seen on Broadway. Bob Fosse and Gus Giordano are credited as two of the originals in creating this style of dance. Jazz is known for being both sharp and smooth. Students develop style and musicality in jazz classes. This is a great class to round out a student's dance training. High energy and lots of sass...bring it to jazz class. An emphasis is placed on kicks, leaps, and turns; therefore, jazz is also a great class for students who want to prepare to audition for their school's dance team.
Tap 2, 3, & 4 (by placement): Tap is all about rhythm...primarily with your feet! Students will start with the basics. Over time, they will develop an ability to tap in advanced arrangements of sounds using a variety of steps and techniques. Some well known tap dancers include Gregory Hines and Savion Glover.
Musical Theatre: Bring on the drama! This class is part dance, part acting! Students explore being "in character" while learning a variety of dances from various musical productions. Think BROADWAY!
Hip Hop 1 & 2 (by placement): Our hip hop classes focus on musicality, dynamics, and technique. Students will do warm-ups, progressions, and learn routines to strengthen their choreography retention. We focus on isolations and patterns for visual effectiveness along with having fun and learning to express one’s self through dance moves. Age appropriate choreography and music is used in all classes!*We STRONGLY encourage hip-hop students to enroll in technique classes so their training is well rounded and complete.
Tumbling 1, 2, & 3 (by placement): Our tumbling program focuses on proper technique, flexibility, and strength. We train students starting from the most basic tricks such as somersaults and cart wheels to more advanced tricks such as back handsprings and back tucks. Tumblers work on mats with spotters. We do not utilize beams, bars, or other gymnastics equipment, but rather focus on tricks that can be perfected using mats only. Some refer to this class as acrobatics or acro.*We STRONGLY encourage tumbling students to enroll in technique classes so their training is well rounded and complete.
